Energy efficiency plays an important part in building and maintaining a home. Pinnacle Homes uses several products to ensure low energy costs and a low environmental footprint. From appliances, to energy seals, to windows and more, Pinnacle Homes focuses not only on building your dream home, but also in constructing energy efficient homes.
The Tyvek® HomeWrap®, made by DuPont™, greatly changed the home building industry when it was first produced in the late 1960s. The purpose of the Tyvek® HomeWrap® is to provide defense against air and moisture infiltration, reduce fossil fuel consumption, and conserve energy.
The Tyvek® HomeWrap® reduces energy bills by helping insulation work better and allowing the HVAC system to work more efficiently. This technology is engineered to keep homes cool in the summer, warm in the winter, and dry all year long.
D.R. Nelson Energy Seal
Many homeowners don’t know that only 10-20% of air leakage comes from windows and doors. There are approximately 400-600 inches of air leakage in a typical house, and our energy seal reduces this amount by about 60-70%.
Using two D.R. Nelson Energy Seals, our homes perform 20% better on average than the standard building codes require. The first seal is done at the rough frame stage, where all exterior surfaces are sealed. The second is applied after the drywall is installed. D.R. Nelson seals around the edges of openings made for electrical outlets, plumbing fixtures, and other holes through the exterior walls and ceilings.
D.R. Nelson is Michigan’s leader in insulation and energy efficiency, using the most up-to-date technology like the blower test to measure air leakage. This technology helps us to make your home as efficient as possible, and saves you money in energy costs.

Our stainless steel appliances have the most up to date technology built in, and the best part is that they come standard at nearly all of our communities. By using GE ENERGY STAR appliances, we ensure that homeowners will use less energy and water.
We have selected only ovens and microwaves that live up to our luxury standards. Our standard state-of-the-art range has a self-cleaning oven. With this option, the range has additional insulation and tighter gaskets and hinges, keeping heat enclosed and saving you energy costs.
On average, the ENERGY STAR dishwashers we install are 5% more energy efficient and 15% more water efficient than standard models. They also cost less than $35 a year to run on average and can save about 1,600 gallons of water over their lifetime.
The roof of your home plays an important part in protecting you from all four of Michigan’s seasons. That’s why we use the highest quality roofing materials available. Your brand new home will come complete with dimensional asphalt shingles. These shingles use weather tight technology along with 2 sealant bands to provide a higher wind resistance, and come with a 30-year warranty.
High Efficiency Furnace, Water Heater, and Air Conditioner
Made by Lennox®, the furnace we install in our homes has an efficiency rating of 93% AFUE. It also boasts duel fuel capabilities and a sealed blower compartment, which minimizes losses and maximizes efficiency. What do these features mean? You will save hundreds of dollars a year compared to standard furnaces.
The hot water heater that comes with your brand new home is just as incredible. Made by Bradford, it uses factory installed heat traps that reduce heat loss in piping. Insulation covering the sides and top also prevents heat loss, adding to your energy savings.
Also made by Lennox®, the air conditioner installed in your home boasts top of the line precision technology. The temperature is kept exactly where you set it, using only the energy that’s needed.
Windows are an important part in a home’s energy efficiency. Silverline by Andersen delivers quality windows that reduce the use of natural resources. Using dual-pane insulated glass, the windows work to keep your home warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. These factors can reduce your energy bill up to 12%.
The way your home is laid out can have an affect on energy efficiency as well. Air circulation, window placement, and even temperature all play into proper ventilation. This impacts your energy efficiency, as well as the amount of sunlight the home is exposed to. All of our floorplans allow an abundance of natural light, not only to showcase a beautiful space, but also to work as a natural furnace.
